Locksmiths need two kinds of print: a tough A6 card with a clear price-and-call-out promise that people keep for the day they are locked out, and a DL flyer for planned work such as anti-snap cylinder upgrades and lock changes after moving house. This page covers what to print, live prices, ready packs, sample layouts, wording, timing and the pricing rules that matter most in this trade.
Many people search for a locksmith while standing on the doorstep, and some end up with a national call centre and a bill far above the quote. A local locksmith's print is there to be found first: a card in the drawer, the car or a neighbour's hand, with a real name, a real area and a price structure people can understand.
Lockout cards to keep
A stiff A6 card, or a smaller one for a wallet, with your number, the areas you cover and what a lockout call costs. It is kept because it is the answer to a worry most people have had.
Anti-snap cylinder upgrade drops
Many older uPVC doors still have euro cylinders that can be snapped. A flyer explaining the risk calmly, with a photo of the cylinder to look for, gives people a reason to call for planned work.
Moving-house lock changes
New owners rarely know how many keys are out there. Leaflets left with local estate agents and conveyancers, and dropped on new-build estates, reach people in the weeks they move in.
Landlord and agent change-of-tenant cards
Letting agents need locks changed between tenants and quick lockout help for residents. A card on the agent's desk, and a leaflet for landlords, wins repeat work.
Security check sheets
A writable sheet for a home security visit: doors, windows, cylinders, garage and shed, with notes and a price for each suggestion. It makes recommendations clear and easy to agree to.
Business and shop security
Flyers for shops and offices offering master key systems, shutter locks and access control, delivered by hand along high streets and business parks.
Key cutting and counter displays
Locksmiths with a shop use counter leaflets in a holder so customers waiting for keys pick up information on upgrades and safes.

Three packs: lockout cards that stay in a drawer or a wallet until someone is locked out, a cylinder upgrade campaign, and the key-cutting counter. Each total adds up real products at today's prices.

Three layouts we drew for invented locksmiths. Each shows a local base, makes the price structure clear and avoids the vague 'from £29' headlines that cause complaints in this trade.
These are sample designs we made to show layout and wording. The business names, numbers and addresses are invented.

[Name] Locksmiths is based in [area] and covers [towns]. When you call, you talk to the locksmith who comes out, and we tell you the call-out price before we set off. Most lockouts are opened without damage; if a lock does need replacing, we price it before fitting.
Many uPVC doors fitted before [year] still have cylinders that burglars can snap in seconds. A replacement cylinder takes about half an hour to fit, and every person in the house gets a new key. Call [number] and we will check your door and give you a price before we start.

Book a lock change after you move
Never print a 'from' price that leaves out the call-out or a minimum charge; it is a common source of complaints about locksmiths.
Print your town or base. Calling a firm with no address worries people, with good reason.
Only print '24 hour' if the phone really is answered through the night.
When, where and how many
Lockouts happen all year; planned security work rises when the nights draw in. Keep cards flowing all year and time upgrade drops for autumn.
October to December is peak for security upgrades as the evenings get darker and burglary worries grow. Summer brings holiday-time lockouts and moving-house lock changes.
When to drop
Run cylinder and security flyers in late September and October, when the clocks go back. Lock-change flyers to new estates and via estate agents work in spring and summer, when most house moves complete.
Lockout cards are year-round: give them out with every job.
How many
A mobile locksmith usually does well with 1,000 to 2,500 flyers a month in target streets and a steady supply of cards: one or two per customer, plus a stack for each agent.
Where
Through doors on estates with uPVC and composite doors, with estate agents, conveyancers and letting agents, at key-cutting counters, on community noticeboards and in local business parks for commercial work.
Respect 'no junk mail' signs and any council rules on leaflet handouts.
What response to expect
Upgrade flyers usually bring a handful of calls per thousand, more after local news of break-ins. Lockout cards pay back slowly and unpredictably, which is why tracking where each caller got your number matters.

Before you print: rules for locksmiths
Locksmiths have no licensing body in England and Wales, but price advertising rules apply firmly. These are the points to check before printing.
Prices must include call-out charges
If you print a price, it must include charges every customer pays, such as a call-out fee or minimum labour, or show them clearly beside it. The CAP Code treats a headline price that hides compulsory charges as misleading.
Saying or implying you are local when calls go to a distant firm can mislead. The unfair commercial practices rules in the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 cover misleading claims about a trader.
Show the Master Locksmiths Association logo or other scheme badges only while you are a member, and name a lock standard only if the products you fit meet it.
Planned upgrades agreed in the customer's home usually carry a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Urgent lockouts the customer asks you to do straight away are treated differently.
This is a printer's checklist, not legal advice. If you are unsure about a claim, ask Trading Standards or your locksmith trade body before the leaflets go to print.
Questions about leaflets for locksmiths
What is the best leaflet for a locksmith?
A stiff A6 card on 350gsm with your number, area and how lockout calls are priced. People keep it in a drawer or glovebox for the day they need it. Add a DL flyer for planned work such as anti-snap cylinder upgrades and lock changes after moving house.
Should a locksmith print prices on leaflets?
Clear pricing builds trust in this trade, but any figure must include the call-out and charges every customer pays. Many locksmiths print how the price is made up and promise the exact figure on the phone before setting off.
When is the best time to deliver locksmith flyers?
Late September to November, when the clocks change and people think about home security. Spring and summer suit lock-change leaflets for people moving house. Lockout cards should go out with every job all year.
How small can a locksmith card be?
A7 (74 × 105 mm) is a good wallet size on 350gsm card, especially with rounded corners. It holds your name, number, area and one line on pricing. Use A6 for door drops so it is not lost among the post.
Can I use the Master Locksmiths Association logo?
Only while you are a current member and as the association allows. The same goes for any other scheme or standard you mention: claim it only when it is true for your business and the products you fit.
Do letting agents use locksmith cards?
Yes. Agents need locks changed between tenants and help when residents are locked out. A small card on the desk, with how you bill agents and log keys, often leads to steady repeat work.
How fast can I get cards printed?
Saver working days are on each product page, with faster speeds where offered. Lockout cards last a long time, so order enough for months of jobs. Delivery is £7.95 per order to the UK mainland and free when the print reaches £100.
Can you design my locksmith card?
Yes. Our Artwork and Design Service can set out your logo, area and pricing wording. Every upload gets an automatic check for size, bleed and resolution, and File check (£4.99) adds a person looking over your file before print.
